Such a nifty hack!

I came across this from a group called 5 Minute Crafts.  I thought it might be handy so I posted it for you!

The one with the safety pin and measuring tape was my favourite!

Feeling creative again!

After quite some time of feeling unwell, I have turned the corner and am feeling creative again.

These darling baby bibs are my next projects. I have one blue and two pink ones to do.. with the babies due in a few weeks, I will have to pull my finger out!

Here are the free patterns I downloaded. I will post a pic of them when they are finished!

Its' so good to feel creative again!

"A Sustaining Passion"

There’s a kind of quiet therapy in simple, repetitive tasks. Knitting, chopping vegetables, folding laundry, shelling peas — nothing demanding, nothing urgent. Just hands busy and mind slowly unwinding.

Not feeling creative...

I have had to pack away the wool and knitting needles for a while. I simply have no spoons (energy) to knit or crochet...

These last few weeks have been horrid. My fatigue and pain levels were so high that I had to have Prednisolone to bring down the inflammation from my Polymyalgia Rheumatica and fibromyalgia.

I have been so fatigued that I  have to have a nana nap after breakfast. Without it I can't even function. So I have had to just do the basics to keep our home clean and keep us watered and fed.

As soon as I feel better, spoons withstanding, I will be back to knitting and feeling creative again...

Happiest of times

I am currently knitting a wine red baby cardigan with beanie and booties for my granddaughter, Jess who is expecting in July...

Also, I am working on a mint green beanie with pom pom and some booties to match the cardigan I made for my granddaughter , Sandra who is now expecting in October...

I have found some crocheted baby bibs on the net that I want to do for my grandson Liam's partner who is expecting in June.

My happiest times are when I am doing a few projects at once. As I finish one, I am already planning another project.. I really love being creative!

I will post pictures of them all when I have finished.

So who taught you to knit?

I have been knitting and crocheting since I was about 8 years old.

I am eternally grateful to my paternal grandmother who taught not only myself but my twin sister to knit and crochet.

She had the patience of a saint as I found out trying to teach my daughters and their daughters. They lost patience and threw in the towel far too early. However, I have since found out that one of my granddaughters now crochets.

She made a mess of her blanket she was crocheting and she brought it to me to mend. It was a sweet time with lots of laughs.

As you know, I aways have crocheted and knitted projects at home and it makes me joyful. I love being creative.

When I was a younger woman when my children were in school, my neighbour and I would spend many an afternoon knitting. She was very clever with knitting...

Even today you will often find me knitting or crocheting with my twin and we laugh and relax.

We both are grateful to Nana... and I hope I have passed the art on like she did.

So who taught you to knit?

Personalised art

When my granddaughter was born, I did a personalised picture which was framed.

I designed it on Microsoft Picture It using a photo of her, printed the finished picture with high gloss photo paper.

At almost 13, she still has it among her other treasures, one being the little cuddle blanket I made her.

Creativity comes in all mediums.

Some encouragement for you!

Not so long ago, I developed Trigger Finger and osteo arthritis in my hands which caused my fingers to not be able to bend or straighten.

I regretfully packed away all my wool and needles and hooks and lamented just another thing that age and chronic illness had taken from me.

Then I visited my twin sister who was busy crocheting baby blankets

She too suffered from arthritis in the hands and she proudly flexed her swollen fingers and encouraged me to take it up again. I did.

I suffer with fibromyalgia and it is important to find something to take my mind off pain, and I find knitting or crocheting does that to some degree.

I believe it is healthy and very satisfying to be creative and I have knitted, crocheted or sewn many gifts for family and friends.

I can actually bend my fingers now. If you are in a similar position and have given up on handcrafts, I would encourage you to try one more time.
